Jacob has worked as a backcountry guide in the mountains of Wyoming and the deserts of Utah where he was first introduced to the dark skies of the western U.S. Since then he has also worked as a farmer on the edge of Escalante National Monument and as a ranch hand in the wilds of Patagonia. He graduated with a Masters of Science & Technology degree from the University of Utah with a focus on environmental science and policy. He currently teaches in the UofU hospital system while working on side projects surrounding environmental policy and the pressures of landscape change.
